Tassie To Host National Super Conference
16/03/05
Tasmania is set to once again host one of Australia's largest and longest - established superannuation conferences in 2005. The 15th Annual Conference of Major Superannuation Funds ( CMSF ) will bring over 1000 delegates to Hobart between 21 - 23 March. To be held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, CMSF brings together super fund trustees, staff and service providers from throughout Australia. The focus of the 2005 Conference will be on 'Choice' with the Federal Government's Choice of Fund legislation set to commence from 1 July 2005. General Manager of Tasplan Super Neil Cassidy believes that CMSF will provide a boost to the local economy and showcase the State's tourism industry. "As the Conference finish is only a day before the Easter break, many of the delegates will take the opportunity to extend their stay and explore Tasmania." It will be a bumper period for hotels, restaurants and pubs in and around the waterfront during the period of the Conference with other tourism and hospitality operators throughout the State benefiting over the Easter break. National and international experts in the superannuation and related fields will deliver Papers at the three day Conference.
At a time when there is so much uncertainty associated with Choice of Fund, the Conference will hopefully crystallize issues and help trustees and Administrators better understand the Federal Government's new legislation.
