Tasmania's largest industry superannuation fund is pleased to announce the appointment of John Harman as the fund's Investment Manager.

Tasplan General Manager, Neil Cassidy, said that the appointment is the result of continued fund growth with funds under management likely to exceed $1 billion early in 2007.

Cassidy said that the fund was delighted to secure someone with John's knowledge and experience to take on this new and demanding role.

"John brings 20 years of experience in the finance sector to this recently-created position. For the past seven years he has been Executive Manager – Investments for the Retirement Benefits Fund – the State's major public sector superannuation fund" Cassidy said.

"He will be responsible for implementing investment decisions, monitoring the performance of investments and investment managers and reporting to the Tasplan Board on all matters related to fund investments."

"As he brings with him a vast knowledge of the superannuation market, John will also have a business development role for the fund" Cassidy said.
