Your super fund’s performance has a big impact on how long your money will last in retirement. So, how do you know if your fund is a great performer?

How to compare super funds

  • Look for good performance over a five- or 10-year period rather than exceptional performance for just a year or so. Super is a long-term investment.
  • Be sure to factor in fees when you’re checking performance figures – but remember that low-fee funds may not perform as well and may offer less in the way of products and services.

So, the trick is to find a fund with good returns and low fees – plus the benefits you need.

A gold-rated fund – nine years in a row

This year, SuperRatings™ awarded Tasplan its ninth consecutive gold rating. SuperRatings™ also awarded Tasplan Pension its third consecutive gold rating. These ratings recognise Tasplan and Tasplan Pension as ‘good value for money’ super funds.

We delivered strong investment results over the year to 31 December 2015. The Balanced option recorded top quartile performance of 6.9% against the industry median of 5.3%, with long term outperformance and a 'Leading' five year trend also maintained.

Investment returns have remained competitive over the longer term.

Plus, over the past year, Tasplan’s member and admin fees remained stable.

Clearly, you can have confidence that you’re with a quality fund.

A five-star quality rating

We also received a five-star quality rating for 2016 from independent assessor, the Heron Partnership.

Scoring five out of five stars indicates a score of 80 or more out of 100. This score is awarded to a fund that is ‘outstanding’ – that is, ‘an outstanding product with a great depth of features and hence flexibility’.
