Your super fund’s performance has a big impact on how much money you’ll have at retirement. So, how do you know if your fund is a great performer?
How to compare super funds
- Look for good performance over a five- or 10-year period rather than exceptional performance for just a year or so. Super is a long-term investment.
- Be sure to factor in fees when you’re checking performance figures – but remember that low-fee funds may not perform as well and may offer less in the way of products and services.
So, the trick is to find a fund with good returns and low fees – plus the benefits you need.
A gold-rated fund – nine years in a row
This year, SuperRatings™ awarded us our ninth consecutive gold rating. SuperRatings™ is a rating company that reports on super fund investment returns, benchmarks super funds and pension funds, and ranks super funds based on investment performance, fees, insurance options and non-super services.
We delivered strong growth results in 2015. The MySuper Balanced option recorded performance of 10.1% against the median of 9.4%. In fact, all of the Tasplan investment options outperformed the relevant median over the year ending 30 June 2015 (Source: SuperRatings™ Benchmark Report 2016).
Investment returns have remained competitive over the longer term.
Plus, over the past year, Tasplan’s member and admin fees remained stable.
Clearly, you can have confidence that you’re with a quality fund.
A five-star quality rating
We also received a five-star quality rating for 2016 from independent assessor, the Heron Partnership.
Scoring five out of five stars indicates a score of 80 or more out of 100. This score is awarded to a fund that is ‘outstanding’ – that is, ‘an outstanding product with a great depth of features and hence flexibility’.
Tasplan’s MySuper option also received five stars.
